Boxing Day in Sydney is the start of the world famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race. This is one of the great summer events in Sydney, when Australians take to the Harbour in force to witness the spectacle and to cheer on the yachts.

There is no better way to join the festivities and soak up the atmosphere than to get on board a comfortable yacht and follow the fleet.
Our Sydney charter yachts are conveniently berthed in a modern, walk on walk off, marina in a beautiful setting at Middle Harbour Yacht Club.
Flying Fish yachts are professionally maintained and fully equipped to live on board.
Beneteau 40.7, comfortable and practical
The Beneteau 40.7 is a highly regarded Bruce Farr-designed cruiser/racer sailing yacht, ideal for learning and comfortable for cruising.
The layout of the 40.7 is very practical, with two double rear cabins a forward cabin, a large saloon and an enclosed toilet and shower unit. The galley has a double burner stove and is fully equipped for cooking on board.
They take a maximum of 11 people for day sailing.
Sailing programme
The charter begins with a short safety briefing. We explain the basic parts of the yacht as well as the use of winches, halyards and sheets.
Next we head out towards the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and near to the start line for the race.
Sydney to Hobart Race start
As the start time approaches the tension builds and the yachts jostle for a starting position. This is a great opportunity to get photos and videos of some of the world's most impressive race yachts
When the gun goes at 1 o'clock the yachts race down the harbour to a marker buoy off Sydney Heads.
Here the fleet turns south for the start of a 628-mile yacht racing adventure.
We usually follow the fleet down the harbour and out through the heads.
Then it's back to the Yacht Club in good time for a few light refreshments in the waterside bar.
