Boxing Day in Sydney is the start of the world famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race. This is one of the great summer events in Sydney, when Australians take to the harbour in force to witness the spectacle and to cheer on the yachts.

There is no better way to experience the electric atmosphere of this iconic yacht race than to get out on the water amongst it all.
Join us for a memorable day on board a comfortable Beneteau yacht and follow the fleet.
Sailing programme
Our yachts are berthed in a modern walk-on, walk-off marina in a beautiful setting at Middle Harbour Yacht Club.
The day begins with a short safety briefing. We explain the basic parts of the yacht and the use of winches, halyards, and sheets.
Next, we head towards the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, which are near the race's start line.
Sydney to Hobart race start
Tension builds as the start time approaches, and the yachts jostle for a starting position. This is an excellent opportunity to get photos and videos of some of the world's most impressive race yachts.
When the gun goes at 1 o'clock, the yachts race down the harbour to a marker buoy off Sydney Heads.
Here, the fleet turns south for the start of a 628-mile yacht racing adventure.
We usually follow the fleet down the harbour and out through the heads.
Then it's back to the Yacht Club in good time for a few light refreshments in the waterside bar.

Flying Fish has successfully completed 17 Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht races, achieving outstanding results, including second in class in 2009 and first in class in 2010 and 2017.
